SECTION 3: Key Features of Rodent Sherif
1. Versatile Usage with Natural Active Ingredients
Rodent Sheriff is a spray that markets itself as a natural pest repellant, which one can use throughout the home, garden, garage, or anywhere rodents are found. The active ingredient in Rodent Sheriff is peppermint oil, which is hated by rodents and pests. It's been speculated that peppermint oil contains monoterpenoids, which are chemicals that can act as fumigants to insects.
2. Repels a Variety of Pests
The primary goal is to prevent infestation of vermin and large pests, although Rodent Sheriff also claims that it can keep your home free of insects like flies and roaches. The main ingredient is peppermint oil, which is a primary repellent for rodents like chipmunks, rats, mice, squirrels, and even raccoons.
3. Shields New Pests From Entering
The product comes in an 8-ounce spray bottle, which promises 1,000 sprays per bottle. Each time a consumer sprays Rodent Sheriff, a scent barrier is created within the spray zone. This barrier repels rodents, and prevents them from returning as long as the scent is pungent.
SECTION 4: The Rating
When evaluating products, we use five main criteria:
- Company Reputation
- Active Ingredient
- Easy Of Use
- Pet and Child Safety Rating
- Overall Effectiveness
After looking at the product in detail it was actually quite difficult to find the company that owns and distributes the product. It appears that Rodent Sherif's main sales channel is through Amazon and it does not have a dedicated website.
Rather, it is a product marketed and distributed by Trisales Marketing, LLC through infomercials.
It was pretty difficult to find a return policy or warranty anywhere on the amazon listing, which makes us a bit worried about the quality of the product.
Rodent Sherif markets itself as a natural and more affordable pest treatment that mainly uses peppermint oil to repel bugs and rodents.
Peppermint oil is listed as a "Mininum Risk Pesticide" by the Environmental Protection Agency, which means that itposes little or no risk to humans or the environment.
As a result of this listing, Rodent Sherif does not have to go through testing before being distributed to consumers. Instead, it is exempt under Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
Despite the exemption, peppermint oil has been tested and does work to repel pests in a safe manner. Of course it does not kill, but simply repels the pests, which must be taken into account before buying.
If you want to kill rodents, we recommend first consulting with an exterminator and then attempting to remove the pests on your own or paying the exterminator to do it for you.
Ease of Use
Rodent Sheriff comes in a spray bottle, which ensures easy deliver of the product all throughout your home and garden. Simply depress the trigger and aim, and then wherever you spray will be flocked with the peppermint spray which rodents hate.
All you have to do is simply spray it in the area where you want to repel pests and you're done.
Pretty simple, which is always a plus in our book.
Want to skip all this research and just hire a decent exterminator for your pest problem?
Pet and Child Safety Rating
Is Rodent Sherif safe for kids and pets?
For your family, Rodent Sherif should be completely safe.
We would say yes, as the main active ingredient is peppermint oil, which is natural ingredient and considered to be very low risk to humans and the environment by the EPA. Although, the odor produced by the spray is very potent peppermint smell, and it could irritate your families sinuses.
For your pets, Rodent Sherif might not be safe as it will likely irritate the sensitive noses of your cats and dogs.
Our recommendation would be to consult with your veterinarian and/or apply a small amount in a portion of your house to see how your animals react.
As far as repellents are concerned, it is an effective treatment as the potent peppermint odor is able to deter many common pests from entering your home.
We would not recommend it as a solution to an ongoing pest problem (such as bed bugs or ants) but more of a temporary fix to help alleviate a situation.
The natural properties of peppermint oil will also give you a bit of piece of mind when spraying it around your house. Just be careful if you have pets in your house.
SECTION 5: How does Rodent Sheriff Compare Against Competitors
We compared Rodent Sheriff to these other top rodent repellant sprays to see how it stacks up:
- Geekers Ultrasonic Pest Repeller
- Eco Defense Pest Control Pouches
- Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer
Rodent Sheriff vs. Geekers Ultrasonic Pest Repeller
Both of these products are safe and non-toxic to humans and pets, but they work in slightly different ways. While Rodent Sheriff repels pests via an unpleasant scent, Geekers Ultrasonic Pest Repeller uses a sonic energy to create a forcefield in your home that works to repel all bugs and vermin.
The Ultrasonic Pest Repeller is a wall unit that is mounted within the home to continuously rid the area of pests, whereas Rodent Sheriff must be manually applied throughout the affected area.
Rodent Sheriff vs. Eco Defense Pest Control Pouches
These two products share peppermint oil as a common main ingredient. However, Eco Defense Pest Control Pouches take their ingredients a step further, including other undesirable scents like citrus, rosemary, mint and lemongrass to repel pests.
These two products have different consistencies; whereas Rodent Sheriff is a liquid, Eco Defense Pest Control Pouches are small silica pebbles in deodorized pouches that are self-contained and odorize an area by themselves.
Rodent Sheriff vs. Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer
Despite the fact that these are both sprays, they have contrasting purposes. Rodent Sheriff is used to block and repel pests and vermin without harming them. There are no toxic chemicals, just natural oils designed to deter unwanted pests.
Ortho Home Defense MAX, on the other hand, is used to kill pests. Toxic chemical agents are present within the solution, and when sprayed, it will kill the vermin, but is not safe for your pets or children.
