With its premise as a big toy gun that adults can enjoy as well as kids, it’s no wonder that the Bug-A-Salt has a purpose in killing flies, yet also serves as a form of absolute entertainment.

    Pros

    Cons

    SECTION 3: The Key Features

Bug-A-Salt has a loyal fan base online that consistently rate the product favorably.

    Why?

Let’s take a look at some of the main features of this cool fly killing toy.

    A Toy With A Purpose

The primary draw for this product is that it’s a toy gun, which has an actual use in the home: to kill and repel flies.

    Simple Effectiveness

The Bug-A-Salt uses table salt granules as ammo, which works to shoo flies away without attracting any more insects.

    No Moving Parts

The “gun” works by using pure air power to force the salt granules in the direction of the flies, which means there are none of the inner workings that are present in an actual gun.

    Presentation Is Everything

This gun comes in a few different color schemes: bright yellow, special edition camo green, lawn and garden green/yellow, and a pink camo pattern marketed to women.

    SECTION 4: The Review

When evaluating products, we use five criteria in all our reviews:

    • Company Reputation
    • Active Ingredient
    • Easy Of Use
    • Pet and Child Safety Rating
    • Overall Effectiveness

    Reputable Company/Customer Service:

This product is the brainchild of an entrepreneur, which means it’s the only product of its kind by the manufacturer.

Most reviews of Bug-A-Salt products are positive, with all products sitting at a solid 4.5 stars across the web. Customers love the creative idea behind this product and its subsequent editions have been called “hours of fun.”

    A Note About Bug-A-Salt 2.0

Because this product was invented by a regular guy who saw flies as a big problem that needed a fun solution, it’s got a down-to-earth feel.

Part of what makes this product such a hit is that it’s simple, effective, and solves a problem by creating a neat hobby.

    Active Ingredient:

This product uses only table salt and air power to blast flies and either stun them away from an area or kill them (as intended). This is a unique and creative variable, as many other competitors utilize chemical sprays or electricity to get the same job done.

    Ease of Use:

Essentially, this product is a toy gun with a use beyond pure recreation: killing pesky flies or even larger bugs from a distance. It’s just as easy to use as a toy gun, but may require target practice in order to successfully kill flies.

Is This Pet and Child Safe?

Where many, MANY, other pest control methods use pesticides, the Bug-A-Salt gun is unique in that it uses an edible component as “ammo.”

Your pet or child won’t get sick from the table salt the gun uses, and you can simply sweep up the excess salt it leaves behind.

It’s so fun, kids can even use this product! However, parental supervision is required, as shots to the eyes can cause serious harm.

    Overall Effectiveness:

This product not only works to kill the flies (with accurate aim), but provides an entertainment component as well, which makes it unprecedented on the market and favorable to consumers.

SECTION 5: “How Does It Compare Against Competitors?”

Even though Bug-A-Salt 2.0 is sort of in a category of it’s own, let’s have a look at it in comparison to some of its competitors such as…

    1. Zap-It! Bug Zapper
    2. The Executioner Fly Swat Zapper
    3. Martin Paul Fly Shooter Bug Gun

    Bug-A-Salt vs. Zap-It! Bug Zapper

Overall, these are both fun products to use, because it adds a notion of playfulness to the irritation that flies bring.

The Zap-It! Bug Zapper looks like a tennis racket, which means that one must get close to the insects in order to use the product. This is not so with the Bug-A-Salt, which has a 3-ft shooting range.

The Zap-It! Bug Zapper uses electricity to essentially roast an insect to death, while Bug-A-Salt uses only salt and air, making it much more safe for households with kids and pets.

Winner goes to Bug-A-Salt 2.0: We like the Bug-A-Salt gun a bit more than the zapper due to it being a bit safer and more effective at killing flies. Let’s be honest, how close can you really get to a fly before it flies away?

Bug-A-Salt vs. The Executioner Fly Swat Zapper

Upon reading reviews of The Executioner Fly Swat Zapper online, one can see that this product doesn’t differentiate very well between bugs and humans.

This product is also shaped like a tennis racket and powered by batteries, which has the potential to leak or explode.

Again, the Bug-A-Salt is wins out as it is extremely safe as far as fly-killing devices are concerned, which makes Bug-A-Salt much more favorable in light of the The Executioner Fly Swat Zapper.

Winner goes to Bug-A-Salt 2.0: We like the Bug-A-Salt again due to it being more safe and kid-friendly.

Bug-A-Salt vs. Martin Paul Fly Shooter Bug Gun

This product is a very primitive gun shape, which would lead one to reluctantly classify both products in the same category.

Martin Paul Flyshooter Bug Gun works essentially as an extender for a fan attached at the end, which sucks flies into the wind it generates and kills them with its metal “blades.”

The range on the Martin Paul Flyshooter Bug Gun isn’t nearly as far as the shooting range for the Bug-A-Salt, which means that to effectively kill insects, you’ll have to get very close and trap them in the wind current.

Winner goes to Bug-A-Salt 2.0: The final showdown goes to Bug-A-Salt 2.0. Although the Flyshooter has it’s metal “blades” it doesn’t compare to the fly killing abilities of the Bug-A-Salt.
