Brown Pest Control Review
Brown Pest Control has served North Carolina’s greater Winston-Salem community for over 40 years, including the city proper and Rural Hall, King, Danbury, Pfafftown, Lewisville, Mocksville, Lexington, Advance, Clemmons, Kernersville, and High Point. The office is located at 4678 Patterson Ave. in Winston-Salem, and the company is a state-certified pest applicator.
They offer the full range of residential and commercial pest control treatments including for ants, termites, cockroaches, fleas, ticks, spiders, earwig, moths, wasps, bed bugs, yellow jackets, and stink bugs. Technicians will also come out to do a one-time removal of outdoor wasp and bee nests that are close to your home or business. Indoor pest treatments are all delivered via yearly service plans, with technicians returning quarterly to retreat both indoor and surrounding outdoor spaces. Brown also offers wildlife control services for bats, rodents, and raccoons.
While they offer all the standards in pest treatment, for me one of the most unique services is Brown’s multi-tiered crawlspace care. It includes moisture-control, renovation, and remediation and encompasses everything from maintenance of your dehumidifier to insulation, vent, barrier, and even foundation repair. These preventative services are aimed at decreasing mold, mildew, and pest infestations, especially from termites and ants who love to eat moist, softwood.
Customers seem particularly pleased with Brown’s outdoor nest service for clearing out wasps and yellow jackets, which receives plenty of praise for knowledgeable technicians, customer service support, follow-through, and high-quality work. The office staff is also highly rated for friendliness and professionalism, and their crawlspace moisture protection services are seen as top-of-the-line.
However, there are mixed reviews when it comes to the actual pest control services that treat crawling and flying bugs. There’s plenty of mention of both high-quality treatments that do the job and poor quality work which doesn’t solve the problem at all, particularly with ants.
Some customers state that the sprays they use don’t seem to work, although more states that they do and that the work is excellent. The lack of consistency is something to consider when considering using Brown Pest Control for pest services. They do have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Brown has comparable pricing to others in the industry as well as free consultations on all their services. As is standard with pest control service plans, technicians will come out to treat pests in between scheduled visits at no extra charge if the problem reoccurs.
That being said, one common issue with value is that people who purchase the pest control service plans have stated Brown doesn’t always stand behind these agreements. Some technicians have skipped appointments to retreat indoor areas when pests return in between contract visits or have refused to do so altogether. Timely scheduling of revisits is also an issue. Though they state that they offer a 100% money-back guarantee on these plans if they don’t work to get rid of pests, according to customers this isn’t always the case because of fine print stipulations. Another less common issue is that customers aren’t always given prior notice of price increases for recurring service plans.
As far as their eco-friendly status is concerned, the company offers Green Pest Control that keeps your home free from toxins and is pet and child-friendly. As North Carolina bugs evolve, they reformulate these solutions and methods to ensure optimal treatment success of the region’s pests.
Brown Pest Control is a solid choice for outdoor wasp and bee nest removal, as well as crawl space moisture control and water damage repair to help prevent pest infestations, mold, and mildew. They don’t always honor their pest control service agreements as customers expect them to, and have inconsistent customer service and quality of work when it comes to these service plans. In general, read the fine print on any contracts you sign for pest control with Brown, and be prepared to hold them to these agreements.
