Company Review
Carolina Termite and Pest Control were founded in 1971 by Les Shillman, a graduate of North Carolina State University’s pest control program. They offer both residential and commercial services and pride themselves on forming relationships with repeat customers. In March 2019, they were acquired by Arrow Exterminators; both businesses thrive together due to their similar business values of forming strong relationships with their customer base and offering environmentally conscious pest solutions.
Arrow Exterminators treats a wide variety of pests. They can treat residential and commercial clients for ants, bed bugs, cockroaches, spiders, ticks, mites, fleas, bees, wasps, mosquitoes, termites, and even rodents.
For each type of pest that they deal with, Arrow Exterminators creates a custom plan tailored to each client. In the case of rodents, Arrow will evaluate the property to determine the extent of the damage and to form a plan of action. They’ll then remove the rodent infestation, perform renovations to seal up any points of access to prevent reintroduction of the pests, and replace any damaged or contaminated insulation. Arrow is able to solve pest problems at their root, rather than just continually slap a Band-Aid on the issue like many other pest control companies do.
Arrow takes pride in its STEPS (Sustainability Through Environmental Practices and Solutions) program. Introduced in 2009, the program is a system focused on creating healthier homes, rather than simply on removing pests. By following STEPS, Arrow indicates a commitment to treating pest problems in an environmentally conscious way. Arrow is GreenPro certified by the National Pest Control Association, meaning that their services have been found to be least-risk to its customers. GreenPro certification cannot be obtained by companies that spray pesticides willy-nilly or place rodenticides where they can be potentially accessed by children or pets. So in addition to being environmentally conscious, Arrow is also very concerned about the safety of children and pets.
Part of Arrow’s business model (which is part of their GreenPro certification) is regularly following up with their customers to ensure that pest problems haven’t recurred.
Customers rave about Arrow employees’ knowledge and commitment to pest control. Where Arrow seems to fall short is–as with many growing companies–that they sometimes get tangled up in their own red tape. However, the pest control technicians are the true heart of the company, and it seems that the work that they do is solid. By all accounts, the technicians go above and beyond to eliminate any pest problem you approach them with. Additionally, customers overall seem quite pleased with Arrow’s follow up services.
As for pricing, Arrow offers discounts and coupons via third parties such as Groupon. It’s likely better to stick with their monthly special coupons if one wishes to use coupons. Additionally, Arrow offers free home inspections.
Overall, Arrow Exterminators seems to be a solid choice when it comes to pest control solutions in the South Carolina area. If you don’t mind wrestling with a little red tape, you’re likely to get a highly skilled and knowledgeable technician who can permanently put your pest problems to rest in a safe, healthful, environmentally conscious way.
