Florida Pest Control and Chemical Company have a 70-year history of providing both commercial and residential pest control services in the Sunshine State. Better known by its shortened name of Florida Pest Control, the company’s Pensacola location is situated at 452 W Pinestead Road. There are also 20 additional offices spread throughout the state.
You’ll find industry-standard pest control services at Florida Pest Control, including treatments for termites, ants, mosquitoes, cockroaches, fleas, ticks, and bed bugs. Bee, wasp, and rodent removal is also available, as is lawn, tree, and shrub care. The team will even provide tent fumigation for certain types of termites, beetles, borers, and other pests, including for grain silos, ships, railroad cars, homes, apartment buildings, and manufacturing plants.
It’s the company’s Clear Gutter Pest Defense Service that stands out the most in terms of value and pest control benefits. This “green” service is designed to remove the gutter debris that feeds and harbor insects, and also includes adding inserts to help keep them away, all while ensuring water flows smoothly through your gutters. This can also cut down on weight-bearing decay to keep your gutters in great condition.
However, what’s rather telling is that Florida Pest Control has a C- rating with the Better Business Bureau. In addition, about a quarter of the customers who rated the Pensacola location had negative experiences, including last-minute cancellations, lack of thoroughness, treatments that didn’t solve the problem, and poor quality lawn and termite service that damaged existing landscaping and even infrastructure.
Customer service reviews weren’t much better. Unprofessional interactions included office staff delaying much-needed follow-up service and technicians not showing up on time (or at all) for appointments. Requests for new technicians or scheduling timeframes also went unheeded, causing some customers to view company communication as poor. A few customers also said management staff was resistant to honoring their agreements.
There are customers who had the opposite experience, although many people who gave good reviews left no explanation as to why they felt so pleased with the company. Of those who did, most expressed satisfaction with the technicians’ knowledge, friendliness, and ability to solve their pest problem.
Florida Pest does offer free estimates on its pest control services, and pricing is viewed as fair and competitive. It has a ‘4 for 3’ program that gives you one quarterly outdoor pest treatment-free, and convenient online bill pay is also available.
In addition, the Subterranean Termite Control program comes with up to $250,000 worth of damage repair coverage. Quarterly pest control contracts provide guarantees that allow you to call for free retreatments in between regularly scheduled visits. There are also flexible one-time, monthly, and annual treatment options.
In terms of value, mixed reviews about the effectiveness and thoroughness of treatment means that you may not always get what you pay for with Florida Pest Control.
The company does work to ensure that measures are taken to place treatments in secure areas to keep children and pets safe, and it utilizes the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) standards of care. These call for training on the lowest risk application materials and techniques for each pest situation. Florida Pest Control also developed its own Green Shield Program based on these standards, which employs the use of non-chemical treatment measures such as caulking and exclusion in order to protect your family’s health.
In summary, proper training and management of technicians seem to be an issue with Florida Pest Control, as does poor communication and inconsistent quality of work. It does have competitive pricing, a convenient pest control gutter service, and eco-friendly treatment options, but staff and management can lack the follow-through necessary to ensure that you get what you pay for. If you choose this state-wide company for your pest control, you may have to work to hold them to their agreements.
