Dewey Pest Control began as a one-person operation in 1929 but has since bloomed into an organization of hundreds of staff members with almost a century of company experience to learn from. In 1977, Steven R. Dewey took over for his father and changed their name to Dewey Services, Inc. Their company goal is to preserve a safe and healthy living environment for their clients.

Dewey Pest Control now covers the California area with 32 branches across the state. The Los Angeles branch is located at 3711 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004, but you can find branches in other cities such as Anaheim, Bakersfield, Baldwin Park, Burbank, Carson, Colton, Commerce, El Cajon, Fresno, Lancaster, Long Beach, Modesto, Murrieta, National City, Ontario, Oroville, Oxnard, Palm Springs, Pasadena, Rancho Santa Margarita, Sacrament, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, San Marcos, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, Van Nuys, Victorville, Walnut Creek, and Windsor Hills.

Their services include Residential Service, Commercial Pest Services, Food Service, Schools & Offices, Termite Control, and Pest Control. They specialize in Bio-Remediation, Fly Prevention, Bird Exclusion, Repellents & Trapping, Bed Bugs, Commodity Fumigations, Termite, Wood Destroying Pests & Organisms, Agricultural Pest Control, Rodent Exclusion, Bar Scan, and Trent Analysis. Dewy experts prevent and rid your home of ants, bed bugs, bees, Black Widow spider, Carpet Beetle, cockroaches, earwigs, fleas, flies, gopher, mice & rats, mosquitos, silverfish, sowbugs, termites, ticks, and wasps. 

Dewey Pest Control’s process starts with an inspection, followed by identification, recommendation, exclusion, treatment with green products, and then evaluation. They also keep in close contact with the client throughout the process to answer questions and concerns and keep them updated. These are all phases in their Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program (Dewey Green Pest Management Program), with the overall goal of providing pest control benefits, public health, and eco-friendly solutions. 

Pricing can sometimes be difficult to obtain from representatives, and it is nonexistent on their site. However, I did find pricing from customers that informed the Dewey Pest Control’s standard monthly charges are $49 for general pest control services. Separate services such as bed bugs and bees are said to be very expensive. Many customers mentioned cheaper options elsewhere, but many also considered the higher price to be worth it. No deals or specials were mentioned on the company site, from customers, or by representatives. 

More than one client has described Dewey’s services as “bordering on fraud.” Still, the company has been diligent about responding to most reviews with contact information and intentions to fix the problems. However, at least one customer complained about being contacted on their review publicly but being ignored otherwise. Despite negative experiences, there are a great many customers who found their experiences with Dewey Pest Control to be “punctual,” “quality” work, very “responsive,” and a good “value.”  

As far as pet and child-safety, Dewey takes an earth-friendly approach to pest control, always keeping in mind the importance of the environment and family. Eco-friendly solutions are known to be safe to use around pets and people but confirm with the company before making any potentially dangerous assumptions. There’s no harm in asking for peace of mind!

Overall, Dewey Pest Control has a reputation for terrible customer service (over the phone) and unexpected billings without services. However, they do have incredible technicians that make the customer’s experience one to remember.

The Good And The Bad test

  • Technicians are polite and professional
  • Take an eco-friendly approach to their services
  • Active responders to negative reviews/experiences
  • Cannot find any specials or deals
  • Horrible customer service over the phone (not with technicians)
  • Possible billing/collection issues
  • Difficult to get pricing information promptly (takes up to a week — week and a half for a response if you get one)
