Chem-Free Organic Pest & Lawn Services was founded in 1990 in Austin, Texas by Bobby Jenkins, who also owns ABC Home & Commercial Services. Chem-Free was built to offer customers an alternative to conventional pest control methods.
Its biggest emphasis is eco-friendly pest control, hence the name. Mr. Jenkins saw the demand for more sustainable practices in Austin, so he created a business that is less focused on pesticides, and therefore has a lower impact on the environment and the pests it treats for. Chem-Free’s headquarters are located at 9425 Hwy 290 East Austin, TX 78724, and its phone number is (512) 837-9681.
Chem-Free offers lots of residential organic pest control services that cover roaches, ants, spiders, scorpions, mosquitoes, termites, rodents, fleas and ticks, and wildlife. It also offers bed bug treatments and lawn care services. Even though its company is focused on lowering the environmental impact, it claims that its services are “just as effective as traditional, artificial chemical methods of pest control.”
When it comes to commercial services, Chem-Free offers lawn services, customized termite programs, wildlife management (which includes mice, rats, squirrels, raccoons, and opossums), mosquito control, and pest management. Every service it offers focuses on humane strategies that have a low impact on the environment.
Chem-Free uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM), an approach to pest control that focuses on minimizing environmental impact. Through this method, the company focuses on ecosystem-based strategies, which means that their technicians teach you how to make your property less conducive to the pests The company has even risen above 99% of other pest control companies in the United States by becoming GreenPro-certified, indicating its dedication to sustainable service to the community.
However, the company does technically use chemicals for lawn and pest treatments. The scientific meaning of “chemical” includes any matter, including water and any other substance that could be used to ward off pests. So, it isn’t wrong or bad to use chemicals, but I wanted to note that the name can come across as a tad bit deceiving.
But that is a nit-picky distinction, as Chem-Free does really focus on chemical-free interventions first that can make the pests want to leave without flushing them out. This is a unique feature that distinguishes Chem-Free from other pest control companies. If that fails, the company will turn to chemicals that are less harmful compared to the ones that are frequently used by other pest control providers.
Chem-Free’s technicians offer free inspections to help you figure out how widespread your pest problem is. They will also help you look for signs of damage, discern which pests are infesting your property and where they are located, draft a treatment plan customized to you, and give you all the information you need to move forward with treating for any pests you may have.
Online reviews suggest that the company’s pricing is reasonable, and customers seem to be impressed with the customized plans created to treat their specific problems. This is the first company I’ve encountered that had such positive reviews related to the pricing, so it definitely seems like a good option.
Unfortunately, the most convincing, repetitive negative review I noticed on Yelp was that some people’s dogs were sick after the treatment. The company, of course, strives to be family- and pet-friendly, and it denies that the treatments caused the dogs’ sickness. But since it was a repetitive complaint it is something to keep in mind.
However, if you prioritize environmentally friendly solutions that treat pests and rodents in a Chem-Free is very focused on sustainability and the humane treatment of animals, so if that’s up your alley, I’d recommend using this company and asking the technicians about any concerns you may have during your free inspection.
I was very impressed with Chem-Free’s reviews in general. It has 4 stars on Yelp, 4.9 stars on Google Reviews out of 400 reviews, and it is BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. So, it seems that people genuinely like the company as much as its marketing suggests, and it seems that it is worth trying!
